Georgia is nestled at the intersection of Eastern Europe and West Asia and is the first to eliminate entry restrictions for all vaccinated passengers. This ensures that there are no quarantine restrictions and no on-arrival or on-departure testing. The country of Georgia has removed all restrictions for foreign visitors who arrive by air and can provide evidence of having a two-dose course of any Covid-19 vaccine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that from February 1, 2021, all international tourists who wish to enter Georgia by air may now do so. Individuals are allowed to enter the Georgia border who have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and can give their certificate of proof. Vaccinated travellers can enter Georgia without undergoing any testing or quarantines.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tbilisi has announced “new protocol and conditions for entering Georgia”. The vaccinated tourists must arrive with a COVID-19 PCR test conducted within 72 hours of their departure. Besides, they will only be allowed to enter by air from an approved country. Three days after their arrival, a second PCR test will also have to be taken. Before crossing the state border, visitors need to complete a special application form that has the details of their country of residence, phone number, and accommodation address in Georgia. There is no pre-departure testing, no on-arrival testing and no quarantine requirements for those who arrive by flight. The new move comes months after Georgia introduced long-term visas for remote workers who could change them into work from home experience.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “The citizens of all other countries travelling by air can enter the border of Georgia only if they present the documentation validating the full report (two doses) of any dose of Covid-19 vaccination administered at the border checkpoint of Georgia." Non-vaccinated travellers who have been in the United Kingdom for the last two weeks will be put in obligatory quarantine for 12 days on arrival.
Other foreign visitors must take a negative PCR test within 72 hours of their arrival, and then a further trial will be taken on the third day of their stay. The negative outcome of the PCR results in freedom of movement.
